Operation
Probe system
Standard water systems use a conductivity probe to
control water levels for optimum operating
efficiency. The three-probe system is monitored by
the VAPOR-LOGIC
®
3
board, which performs all the
necessary logic and timing functions to provide total
water level control and safety shutdown.
VAPOR-LOGIC
3
automatically maintains the water
level between the upper two probes A and B (see
Figures 46-1 and 46-2 below). When the water level
falls below probe B, the fill valve is opened until the
water level reaches the upper probe A. Water must
remain in contact with the probe surface for a
minimum of two seconds for VAPOR-LOGIC
3
to
determine that the water is at the probe's level,
ensuring that turbulence does not cause an incorrect
level reading.

Each time the fill valve is energized, the probe system
is tested by the VAPOR-LOGIC
3
system. If the signal
from the probe assembly is beginning to deteriorate,
the message Replace probes will appear. Once the
probe system has reached its maximum usable life, the
humidifier will shut down and the message Probe
fault will appear.
An adjustable skim time allows for an extended skim
period (0-120 seconds) to reduce surface mineral
accumulation. When skimming, the fill valve remains
energized for the designated delay time after the
water level reaches the upper probe A.
Probe C provides low water protection for the
heating elements. If the water level falls below probe
C, the heaters are de-energized.
